Covina has remained a nice memory of my past. In 1971 in the early part of that year, I worked for United California Bank on Badillo. The small town enverioment was a welcome sight for me. Having been raised in another small town I felt quite at home. Although, my stay was short the memories are many. I work with many nice folks at the bank. I remember Charlene, a beautiful girl, that I have never forgoten and wish to hear from her. I Plea, with someone that may help me find her. I grew up in Covina from 1955 to 1976. It was a terrific town and time. The neighborhood was like growing up on the old show "Wonder Years". Sometimes I really miss Covina and those simpler days. I went to Ben Lomond Elementary, Eva D. Edwards, South Hills, and Mount SAC. Would love to return for a visit someday soon. Anyone remember "Grinder World" on San Bernardino Road? Never had sandwiches as yummy since! I enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

Ex-Colts coach Sooter dies By Jim McConnell, Staff Writer Local coaching legend W.M."Doc" Sooter died Nov. 20 of cancer at his home in San Luis Obispo. He was 87. Sooter coached basketball at Covina High School from 1947-75. His teams were 656-177 during that span, a .787 winning percentage. At the time of his retirement from Covina, Sooter was the winningest active basketball coach in the nation.

Nice to hear about old Covina haunts. Used to get dresses for $2 each at Betty's Tots to Teens on Citrus! Attended Workman elementary from 1958-1963. Then Ruddock and Royal Oak High, class of 72. I graduated from Covina High in 1970. Ron Millete was my best friend at the time. I hung with Bill Pico, Randy Rhiner, Andy Delgado, Don Leslie, Cory Rhiner. Don Leslie and I were members of the Esquires Service Club. Seraphs got thrown off of campus I guess they were too cool. Would have loved to join. Pegasans were there too....2nd best....I remember Mr. Madison, Mr. Sena, Mr. Roche, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Masuda, Mr. Mercer, Mr. Preston, Mr. Kemp. I remember getting alot of Swats from Mr. Haven too. Covina was quite a unique place to grow up. My sister Evlyn graduated in 1967. John Hefner was Class president but the true hero of the day was Vern Chadwick and company. Bob Mc Cormick, Chuck McCormick, Ron Couch and Craig Dixon...Boy did those guys give us something to Cheer about...And we cant forget Doc Sooter.....The 1967 Team was the most exciting ever....The Northview games were too much....Well I have been working for the last 36 years and will retire in 13 months....I have worked for the county and have had a great ride....Now it time to reflect and walk downtown Covina and reflect.....Life was slow and oh so mello....Dont forget Tim Morgon and his songs....Check out his website and available CD's you will all love them...I bought a couple and listen all the time...The music does bring back the past.....J Rod....

I lived in Covina from 1969 until 2004, and have seen the vast amount of changes. The 70's were the best! Market Basket, Danny's Deli, In & Out and the $ .25 hamburgers(: Attended Royal Oak High School 1974-78. My kids went to Charter Oak 1998-2004. They had alot of the same teachers, who obviously were just starting out in the 70's. It was a great place to grow up!

Just browsing when I found your site. I have some very fond memories growing up in Covina from 1967 to 1975. We lived on Mangrove and I attended Banna Elementry.That place totally reminds me of the Wonder Years. We dominated the streets back then. I played baseball at Charter Oak through the years From Mustang B to Pinto. I remember walking to Firebird Liquor store from Our house and stealing My first Pack of Bubble gum from there. I always felt guilty and thought I'd have a little fun by walking on in a few years later and leaving them a quarter while telling them that that was for the pack Of gum I stole several years ago. Ha Ha! Even though it wasn't the original owners..Oh well. Life was so easy back then and it was a great time in my life.

Hi There! I was looking up Covina sites and stumbled upon your Covina photo album - I was thrilled! Although I was born and raised in Covina, graduating from Northview in '77, after relocating to Oregon, I have had a hard time getting back to Covina. I miss my hometown often and long to show my children where I grew up, and where I played at Covina Park, swam in the Plunge, went to school,(eventhough I saw on a rare visit that they tore down Eva D. Junior High!), and the 31 Flavors Ice Cream shop across the street from our church, the old Eastland back when it was an outdoor mall, and all the other things that made Covina a wonderful place to grow up. I grew up in Covina, went to St. Christopher's, Pioneer, Sacred Heart class of 70, Bishop Amat 74. In fact, I went to Sacred Heart and Bishop Amat with Ron Arcinega, who posted here a few years ago. My, how time flies. I miss Covina terribly. I recall Billy Barty presiding over the Little People of America meetings at the Covina Bowl, and getting Leonard Nimoy's autograph at the old Wallach's Music City, near Eastland. I was just crusin' the net trying to find a copy of my South Hills 1984-1985 yearbook when I came across this site. You allways wonder where are they now from your high school years. I grew up in Covina I attended Sierra Vista Jr. High 1983-1984, then South Hills High 1984-1985. I was known as Beccy Bullock my gratuation year was 1988. I sadly didn't get to graduate with my class due to the fact I ended up having a baby my softmore year Father Frank Dorado, I chose to continue my educations at Pioneer Teen Mothers School another fellow class mate Danene Stoker also attended the same class. My father found a class ring from Covina High School (class of 1980) years ago. In one side it has a horse with a little sigh that says colts and has the initial ingrave in the inside R F M. It also has a ruby stone on it. If someone lost this ring, I would gladly return it.
